Privacy policy
This policy explains what RoomTag (“we”) collects when you use the RoomTag app and website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. RoomTag is operated by Jaeyeon Jo, a sole proprietor operating as digital0923, based in Alberta, Canada. We are responsible for the personal information we hold, and our privacy officer can be reached at privacy@roomtag.app.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and a sign-in identifier.
- Room photos you upload and the redesigned images we make from them.
- Measurements and choices: any length you enter, the style you pick, your country, and the analysis of your room that we use to place furniture.
- Usage: how many redesigns you have made, which products you tap, and which pieces had no matching product, so we can add stores where products are missing.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active subscription, as reported by the App Store or Google Play. We never receive your card details.
- Early-access emails: if you email us to join the waitlist, your email address and message.
How we use it
- To make your redesigns: analyse your room photo, choose products that fit, and draw the result.
- To check your photo before we use a redesign: if the photo mostly shows a person, doesn’t show the floor, or isn’t a room, we ask you to take another one instead of making a redesign, and it doesn’t count against your redesigns.
- To keep count of your free and paid redesigns, keep the service secure, and fix problems.
- To improve RoomTag, for example by learning which products people look for that we don’t have yet.
We only collect what we need for these purposes. When you sign in, we link to this policy and ask you to accept our terms, and before your first redesign we tell you that your photo is sent to our AI providers. We don’t sell or rent your personal information, we don’t share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we don’t use your photos to advertise to you.
Who processes it for us
We use these service providers to run RoomTag. They act on our instructions under written agreements and may not use your information for their own purposes:
- Anthropic (AI): analyses your room photo to work out the space, where furniture can go, and whether the photo can be used.
- Google (Gemini) and OpenAI (AI): draw the redesigned image from your room photo and the product photos. Each redesign is made by one of them.
- Supabase: stores your account, your photos and results, and redesign records.
- Cloudflare: runs our website and servers and carries data between your device and us.
- Apple App Store and Google Play: handle purchases and subscriptions.
Under the business terms we use with the AI providers, they don’t use the photos we send to train their models. They may keep request data for a limited time to operate their service and prevent abuse.
When you tap a product, you go to the retailer’s own website, which has its own privacy policy. The link tells the retailer you came from RoomTag so that we can earn a commission. We don’t send the retailer your photo or account details.
Where your information is stored
Our service providers store and process information in the United States and may process it in other countries where they operate. Information held there is subject to the laws of those countries, and authorities there may be able to access it. We use providers that protect it to a standard comparable to Canadian law.
How long we keep it
- Your photos and results: while your account is open, so you can see them again.
- A photo we asked you to retake, or a redesign that failed: we don’t keep a result, and the uploaded photo is kept only with that request record.
- When you delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account): we delete your account, photos, results and records right away. If you ask by email instead, we do it within 30 days of confirming your request. Copies in our backups are overwritten within 30 days after deletion. See how to delete your account.
- Purchase and billing records are kept by Apple or Google, not by us. If the law ever requires us to keep a record, we keep only that record, for as long as required.
- Technical logs: up to 30 days.
Your choices and rights
You can delete your account yourself in the app. You can also ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, or withdraw your consent, by emailing privacy@roomtag.app. We will reply within 30 days and may need to confirm your identity first. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer make redesigns for you.
- Canada: you have these rights under PIPEDA and, in Quebec, under Law 25. If you aren’t satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d’accès à l’information.
- United States: depending on your state (for example California, under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA), you can also ask what categories of information we collect and why, and appeal a decision we make about your request by replying to it. We don’t sell or share personal information as those laws define it, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.
Children
RoomTag is not meant for children under 13 (under 14 in Quebec), and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, limit which staff and systems can access it, and keep account data separated so one user cannot see another’s photos. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the regulators as the law requires.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app before they apply.
